For responsible management of human and natural resources
To realise an ecotourism concept, Atlas Ecosite is committed to minimising negative impacts on the environment and integrating harmoniously with nature and the surrounding population.
Atlas Ecosite is an environmental experimentation centre that aims to raise awareness among guests about the ecological choices of the estate's facilities and the resulting commitments.
The carbon footprint from travellers' journeys to Atlas Ecosite will be offset by planting olive trees given to people in the communities surrounding Amizmiz who need them.
All buildings on the estate are made of earth and natural insulation materials extracted on site. The only exception is cement, used for earthquake-resistant elements and for cooling/heating floor slabs.
Water and electrical autonomy is provided by photovoltaic and thermal panels. A generator is nevertheless used during long periods of overcast skies or rain. At night, the estate is lit by solar lamps. The treatment of well water and wastewater is ensured by two double-tank treatment plants across two spreading zones.
No pesticides or chemical fertilisers are used in the vegetable gardens or in any of the natural areas of the estate. Drip irrigation is installed in cultivated areas. Plant waste is given to herd farmers.
